Armenian Design, Shabbat Challah Tray. 'Shabbat'.

This is a lovely colorful Armenian style challah plate with the word "Shabbat" In Hebrew. Most of us are familiar with the braided Shabbat loaves and call them "challah." - A loaf of yeast-leavened egg bread, usually braided, traditionally eaten by Jews on the Sabbath, holidays, and other ceremonial occasions. This special type of bread gives the Friday night table its atmosphere. Together with this, a number of universal customs have developed and adopted by Jewish people all over the world. One of them is the use of a specially decorated bread board, or challah board, whose purpose is to add to the festive atmosphere. Very often, this board will be available with a matching knife.
